Week two

I will be interested to see the ideas that are developed for libraries with regard to their use of the internet.

Just looking at the way some libraries have made use of blogs displays a wide range of application, enthusiasm and reflects an emphasis on the importance of communication with library patrons. I'm wondering about feedback from patrons to libraries about the 'value', 'usefulness' of the library blog, or is it too early to have received significant comment? Not just comments in response to particular posts, but on the whole concept of library blogging.

A couple of other library blogs I’ve discovered include:
Libraries Interact – blog central for Australian libraries. This blog was set up and is administered by a group of Australian librarian bloggers.

A useful directory for finding library blogs has been compiled by Darlene Fichter on her (Canadian) web site.

The problems of comment spam and splogs are outlined in a succinct article from Computerworld. These problems could creep into library blogs – interesting if anyone has had first-hand experience with this issue.
